Account Manager

Claire started working as an Account Manager at Esmerk in 1997. Prior to joining Esmerk she completed a degree in Psychology and Sociology from the University of Liverpool.

Working closely with both our new and long term clients to ensure that everything runs smoothly with the service that we provide is something that she enjoys.

Claire explains that the service that Esmerk provides is uniquely tailored to each end user; and the wide variation of information requirements is what makes her job so interesting.

Julia is of German nationality and obtained a degree in International Cultural and Business Studies from Passau University. She has been working at Esmerk in the UK as a Media Analyst since November 2009. As part of the Central Europe team, of which Julia is also Deputy Team Leader, she monitors Swiss and Austrian media as well as selected German trade journals.

What she likes about her work is that by reading the newspapers and selecting what’s crucial, she can help provide clients with valuable information on the markets in which they operate and allow them to make informed strategic decisions. Julia is also the UK representative of Sanoma’s European Works Council.

Mikko Silvennoinen, tracking Analyst

Mikko Silvennoinen started working at Esmerk Finland in 2004 in the Tracking team. While working at Esmerk, Mikko is also studying social sciences at the University of Helsinki. He had previously dealt with Esmerk on the customer side, so the company was already familiar to him.

Mikko works on monitoring our customers’ public image in the media for the Media Monitoring service offered by Esmerk for the Finnish market. In practice, his work involves reading newspapers, listening to the radio, and watching TV! He also writes quarterly reports on the public image of some customers. In addition to all of this, Mikko writes articles for our Finnish customer magazine, Quarter.

Melissa Lombardi Ercolin, Analyst

Melissa Lombardi Ercolin

Brazilian-born Melissa joined Esmerk’s Latin American team in the UK in November 2006. She graduated as an Agronomic Engineer at ESALQ, University of Sao Paulo and completed a Masters degree in Plant Science at Massey University, New Zealand. Melissa has joint responsibility for the coverage of Brazil and frequently helps with other Latin American countries.

She enjoys the diversity of content and sectors she monitors on a daily basis, with special interest in sugar cane, ethanol, bioenergy and the dairy segment. Melissa tries to make use of her knowledge of these sectors to deliver comprehensive and strategic coverage to clients. The exciting challenge of providing essential business information related to such a fast growing economy like Brazil is one of the highlights of her work at Esmerk.

Leena Jahkola, Analyst

Leena Jahkola

Analyst

Leena is currently working at Esmerk for the second time. The first time, she started work at Esmerk after finishing her Master’s degree at the Helsinki School of Economics in 1984. Life took her family to Japan for a while, after which Leena worked as a teacher and studied pedagogics. In 2005, she returned to Esmerk and the newspapers.

As an analyst, Leena monitors what newspapers and internet sources write about topics that are of interest to our customers. She compacts the news into abstracts that contain the essential and relevant facts. Leena evaluates the significance of the news and the content and, on the basis of the evaluation, classifies the abstracts according to a system developed at Esmerk. In addition to national sources, Esmerk monitors local and regional newspapers. Leena also reads trade magazines from the forest industry sector, and writes articles for our Finnish customer magazine Quarter.

As a graduate in economic geography, Leena is interested in the operating prerequisites of companies. The companies may be local village shops in remote rural areas or large conglomerates. Leena likes the team work required by her job, and enjoys the extensive way Esmerk monitors events in Finland’s economy and society. This job allows her to learn something new every day.

Tracy Barnett

Analyst

Tracy is a UK national and joined Esmerk two years ago after five years spent working in Paris. A passion for the French language led to her taking a degree in French split between Kent University in the UK and Grenoble III in France. A career in bilingual publishing in various forms brought her once again from the UK to France.

She says her work as an analyst continually puts her knowledge and skills to the test, and each new article reinforces her methodology, knowledge base and vocabulary.

Sara Larsson, Analyst

Sara Larsson joined Esmerk in Stockholm in 2001, after completing her studies in Economics at the Lund University in southern Sweden. Initially she monitored the insurance and banking sector, but today she covers the Norwegian market. She reads over ten sources per day, searching for strategic news in a variety of sectors such as finance, food & drink, media, etc. These are then transformed to abstracts in English, available to Esmerk clients worldwide. The job as an analyst in Esmerk gives Sara an opportunity to practice her language and writing skills, and gives her a good insight into the Norwegian society and economy.
